To Squeegy or Not to Squeegy? That is the...silly question!

Each weekend has begun with a tentative peek in the basement door, our stomachs a mushy mixture of hope and fear over what we'll discover. Thus far, with the pert-near continuous rain and/or humidity, we have been fighting a losing battle. And in fact, every Friday we have spent the first part of our day squeegy-ing (not sure it's really even a word, but it is definitely a reality!) the floor and every Sunday putting everything in airtight containers and lifting them off the floor in preparation for the rain that is sure to come!

But alas, we believe this to be a thing of the past! Can't control the weather, no, but we did indeed turn a corner this weekend by finally getting all of the Tyvek on the first and basement levels and having all of west/walk out wall sheathing and the roof decking installed. I can't imagine any rain coming in now. And just as a back-up we bought a dehumidifier that will run continuously in the basement.

Again, we couldn't done it without the incredible help of Chris and Kelly! They are such great workers and so much fun to be with. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Doug and Chris, working on the walk-out wall...three floors up! The Flying Mandingo's...private joke, but ask us sometime what it means!

Applying Tyvek is a challenge for a perfectionist. It's never quite smooth enough.

Looks like Kelly is making a little house...
While Chris plays a little air guitar!
And here he is with one of his many hats. Since childhood, every inanimate object somehow became either a hat or a space ship. Some things never change. What can we say...?

working his way over the big gable to install the "Ice and Water"
The humidity does a number on the nail guns and they repeatedly have just quit working. They either need more Butane or Doug has to take them both apart and clean out their innerds (I've only ever spoken that word. It is quite unattractive when written out. My apologies.) By the way, that smile is fake. Can you tell?
Though there was heavy rainfall and severe storms in the Twin Cities on Friday night, we did not experience any of that, but awoke on Saturday morning to dense fog. At first we could hardly see out the door. Then it slowly burned off until we could see that where our trees once overlooked the lake, was now in fact the edge of the world! There is no life beyond...

By the way, Hunter Madeline the Great returned with what I thought was the sole of an old boot in her mouth. It was actually a disgusting fish carcass with its mouth wide open, perhaps three inches wide. Thankfully, or not, it was only half of the carcass. Not sure we want to know where they other half went, but we can say that Maddie smelled to high heaven after that encounter. Kelly got a picture for your viewing pleasure!

We're looking forward to next weekend when all of our kids and AnnaBelle will be with us to work and play over the 4th of July weekend! I hope it's good weather! Please God!

Blessings! And...Hey Marcia! Say hello to the gang at CRFP for me!
