Anyone who knows us, knows that Sandy has a nose for deals and gets some kind of crazy thrill out of finding the great stuff for less! We are counting on God's direction and that virtue in order to afford this cabin. So, bring on the challenge!
The first challenge is great windows. We are long-time Andersen window fans. So, we'll spare you all the details of this long and crazy story involving driving around the city checking out the clearance and return sections of MANY Home Depot stores. This chapter of the story ends though with a porch/storage area full of Andersen 400 series windows and doors at a savings of about 70% off! Because of the great deals, we were also able to upgrade to larger windows and more windows than we had planned. It all began with the windows we are most thrilled about: the pair of 5 ft wide by 7 ft high casement windows each with a transom across the top that will face the lake. This major find will bring light and openness to the Great Room and Kitchen/Dining Room for years to come. Incidentally, this major find also forced us to change the ceiling height to 9 ft. I think we can deal with that!
By the way, we sure are thankful for our two strong sons who hauled the beast of a patio door through the garage and onto the porch for us! You guys ARE the brut squad!
