The Countdown to Closing - only one week away!

We are closing on the property at 11 am on Friday, January 15, 2010. Then it's officially ours to do with as we like! First things first. We'll stop by the Douglas County Office to drop off our septic design and apply for the permit.

We are also looking forward to meeting with "Ivan the Excavator" (sounds ominous, doesn't it?) and" Rob the Well Guy" (somehow a bit less menacing-sounding!) on Friday afternoon to discuss further details.

There's an Italian restaurant in Alec called Bella's on Broadway where we will celebrate the commencement of this dream/possible nightmare! We will be staying overnight in town so that we can spend Saturday working on the lot. Kind of making a romantic working weekend...if that's possible.

In preparation for this day, Sandy was given the Husqvarna chainsaw at Christmas that she has so longed for. We will be cutting fallen trees and branches and hopefully raising the canopy of the trees facing the lake to allow more freedom of movement and the ultimate view from the cabin. All of this pending approval by the DNR, of course! There are also several piles of tree stumps and roots, possibly pushed onto our land from other lots that were cleared. No problem, we get to enjoy a grand winter tree stump bonfire at their expense! Again, pending approval from the powers that be! Pray for temperatures above zero to allow for a more enjoyable day working outdoors in Minnesota's up north. Gotta head home Saturday night so we can get poised for the Vikings attempt at the playoffs on Sunday afternoon! Go Vikes!
